Become an EUGs volunteer today!

CSU Wagga Wagga campus is hosting the 2015 Eastern University Games and they need YOU!

The 2015 Eastern University Games will be held Sunday 5 – Thursday 9 July – and YOU could be getting involved in all the action as an EUGs volunteer!

The EUGs are a huge multi-sport event, so there are a lot of fantastic volunteer positions available which can go towards your prac subjects and work experience requirements, as well as boosting your CV by being a part of the biggest regional games event in 2015!

There are numerous ‘Key Volunteer’ positions available to students – all you have to do is go online and apply. Some options include Sport Administration Assistants, Operations Assistant, Sports Medicine Assistant and Medals and Ceremonies Assistant.

As well as these positions, there are around 100 ‘Games Time’ volunteer positions to apply for such as Sport Administration Officers, Journalist positions, photographer positions, social media assistants, Unigames TV Broadcast Assistant and general sports volunteers. Whatever aspect of the games you’re interested in – there is a position for you!

Past volunteer and CSU student Laura Jones says volunteering gives you the chance to be a part of the games and also help with your degree.

“After going overseas I couldn’t afford to participate in the games but still wanted to be a part of it. It was so enjoyable and it was a great opportunity for me to network within my own university”.

As well as enjoying herself, Laura says the experience of volunteering taught her a variety of new skills and attributes and allowed her meet new people.

“The best part of being a volunteer is definitely the people around you. Everyone is extremely welcoming and genuinely appreciated that I was there to help make the games a success. I would recommend anyone to become a volunteer, you won’t regret it!”

As well as keeping university students healthy and fit, the games act as one of the biggest social events of the year – with themed nights every night and social awards handed out. As the largest university sporting event to be held in Wagga Wagga this year, the 2015 Eastern University Games will also serve as a huge tourism boost for the Wagga community and showcase the CSU Wagga campus.
