It’s nearing the end of the session and summer holidays are already on your mind. But you have a stack of assessments due and exams to prepare for. Don’t stress, I have prepared some tips to keep your mind and body healthy during this time of year.
Although there’s nothing better than coming home and stuffing your face with junk food, you usually don’t feel great afterwards. Instead, make a delicious fruit salad, cinnamon and apple oatmeal or smashed avocado on toast. These healthy snacks are great for your body and are packed with vitamins and minerals to keep your energy levels up. After eating nutritious food, my thoughts are clearer and I have more motivation to study. Don’t forget to drink enough water during the day. If you’re dehydrated you won’t be able to concentrate, plus you’ll feel tired, so drink up.
I’m not suggesting you need to run a marathon, but any kind of exercise can help you de-stress and feel great from the vitamin D you’ll get from the sun. Exercise also improves memory, helps you sleep better and improves your overall mood. So grab a friend and head to the tennis court for a hit or go for a leisurely walk around the uni.
Allocating just 10 minutes a day to meditate can benefit your mental well-being. Meditation helps with anxiety, stress, emotional eating and mental focus, allowing you to focus on your studies. There are easy ways to meditate too, YouTube has free tutorials that can help to get you started.
Take care of your mental and physical well-being and you’ll finish off the semester with a bang. Summer holidays will be here before you know it!
