Motivation tips for a healthier you

Getting into a routine isn’t easy. Especially when it involves exercise and you’ve been over-indulging over the Easter break. But making time for exercise is something we should all aim to do. You don’t have to run a marathon, just get your body moving in one way or another. With these handy hints, you’ll be off the couch and outside in no time.

Put on your workout clothes

It’s easy to get lazy and keep yourself distracted by doing anything else but working out. To get motivated, put on your exercise clothes and you’ll feel obliged to exercise. If you don’t have any clothing that you feel comfortable exercising in, treat yourself and buy some new apparel. This will also help you to get motivated as you’ll want to wear your new outfit.

Try group fitness

Gather some of your friends and sign up for a group fitness session. Not only will you feel more motivated, you’ll have fun too. Exercising with your friends provides a good opportunity to catch up and encourage each other along the way. If you’re competitive, then being in a group will probably make you push yourself that little bit harder as you won’t want to give up or finish last.

Find an activity that you love

There’s nothing worse than forcing yourself to exercise when it’s the last thing you feel like doing, especially when its three degrees outside. That’s why it’s important to find a form of exercise that you enjoy. So be sure to have a go at a few different activities and see what you enjoy most.

Getting fit doesn’t have to cost you either. There are so many forms of exercise that you can do all at home. There are abs, legs and even yoga work outs on YouTube which you can do in your bedroom. Some other fun and cheap ideas include mountain bike riding, Zumba, or a leisurely walk with your friends. Social sports are also a great way to meet friends. Check out what sporting clubs are available at CSU Sport and make the most of your experience at uni.

Treat yourself after a workout

The hardest part of exercising is getting started. Once you get going, you’ll feel your energy levels rise and want to kick some serious butt. Don’t forget to reward yourself after your workout. Watch a movie or whip up a post-workout smoothie. This will give you something to look forward to and push yourself past the finish line.

Keep an exercise money jar

Every time you work out, add a $1 or $2 coin to the jar. The more you exercise, the more you’ll save!
