You Do You at Bathurst this week

Students with You Do You written on their hands

By Shannon O’Mara

You Do You Week is an annual student-run initiative at the CSU Bathurst residence, Towers. This event is a program that encourages people to accept themselves regardless of what others think and embrace the differences of people around them.

This week creates the opportunity for everyone to create a change in the world, by being themselves and embracing everyone’s differences. The aim is to stamp not only Towers with positivity, but the community around us.

You Do You Week was launched in 2016 and saw amazing results, with even a local primary school having their own “You Do You Week” which goes to show the impact that everyone can have as everyday leaders on the world around them.

We have a range of activities happening over the week to celebrate the differences of everyone and bond as a residence. A key feature is an ongoing social media campaign targeting different elements of being yourself and accepting others every day over the course of the week. We also have the following activities that will be happening around Towers for the rest of the week:

Monday

  • Social media photos on the profiles of Towers residents
  • Dorm sports costumes are happening in each dorm’s team
  • Warm and fuzzies are being put up in each dorm

Tuesday

  • Towers Trivia Night at Rafters

Wednesday

  • My Mornings Matter barbecue breakfast and yoga on Bruce

Thursday

  • Movie night on Bruce

Friday

  • My Mornings Matter Crema walk
  • You Do You video launch
