CSU Green Going Red for Foundation Day

CSU Green Going Red for Foundation Day

By Sophie Kingston, Sustainability Advisor Wagga Wagga

Foundation Day is on its way for 2018! Since 1989, Foundation Day has been a time to thank and honour the people who have contributed to improving our university’s lifestyle.

The CSU Green team will also be celebrating in style! This year we champion some of our greatest achievements such as planting over 850 grasses and shrubs on Albury campus to improve on-campus biodiversity!

As a University, we push to educate students, staff and the wider community to create a culture of sustainability awareness. Here’s how we do it:

Who are we?

CSU Green is a branch of the university that work together to increase CSU’s environmental footprint. Our team ranges from students to staff and the community, all sharing a common passion for environmental sustainability and mindfulness.

What do we do?

Our aim is to ignite thinking and action in the CSU community towards a sustainable future. We have a team on each campus working hard to achieve this goal through conversations, initiatives and events.

Including being involved in Foundation Day events on-campus, where we will further promote CSU Green’s latest initiatives and programs.

Whether it’s gardens on campus, putting up rooftop solar panel systems or running the War on Waste campaign… CSU Green are always keen to make positive changes happen!

At CSU, we believe that our impact on the environment requires our action on, both, an individual and institutional level. In 2016, we became the first carbon neutral university, and in 2018 we continue to our lower energy usage and reduce our waste production!

With sustainability awareness being the number one attribute chosen by ResLife this year, the focus is on incorporating sustainable habits into our everyday lives.

So, this Foundation Day, CSU Green will be dressing in red, instead of the usual green, and celebrating our triumphs as we continue to become a more sustainable university.
