Sprung Sprint: 24hr film fest

By Cassandra Miller – Sprung Festival PR and Marketing Manager

Sprung Sprint is a 24-hour film competition that challenges your creativity, your skills and your stamina!

Each year Sprung Festival hosts the competition where participants film, write, act and produce a 3-5 minute film within a 24hr period. This crazy challenge makes for amazing memories and even crazier films – including 2017 winning video Cross It Off.

Get crazy – make your mates famous and make a short-film

This year the competition runs from 3pm on Friday 13 September, with film submissions due by 3pm Saturday 14 September. Awards will then be given at 8pm that evening as part of Sprung Festival’s Season Launch.

Participants of the competitions in previous years enjoy the high energy and spontaneous atmosphere of Sprung Sprint. Brittany Myers, a third-year Theatre Media student, has enjoyed Sprung Sprint since it began in 2017.

“I have competed in both years of the competition and it’s always a lot of fun! It can get a bit crazy as you’re running around filming until the last second, but it makes for some bold creative decisions and a lot of laughs!”

Bree had an incredible experience with Sprung Sprint in high school, “Some friends and I spent the night coming up with ideas and filming until 2am. Plus I watched the sunrise with my close friends after a night of intense filming.  I’ve never done anything like it before!”

How to get involved

No matter your film style or genre this competition is a great way to challenge yourself in an environment that encourages you to play with your craziest ideas!

If this sounds like something you’d love to get involved with, check out our website and Facebook page and learn how you can make the funkiest film of the festival.
